Teen foster child charged with murder of 3-yearold foster boy while in CAS approved foster home (Dec 16, 2005) Court Watch had predicted for a long time that things will only get worse with CAS and the latest story from Welland, Ontario would seem to confirm this. Yet another child has died while in the care of the CAS. This time it is a 3-year-old who police believe was murdered by another foster child. Foster parents have told Court Watch that often CAS refuse to give them any background about the children they are being asked to take in because information is confidential. If you are a parent with children considering becoming a foster parent, you had better think twice about it. How would you feel if one of the CAS foster children you took into your home, murdered one of your own kids? Many of these CAS kids have had their lives screwed up because of over-zealous CAS workers. In many cases, these kids are angry at the CAS system for keeping them away from their families and for not listening to them. No doubt part of this girl's frustration and anger was caused by the CAS system itself.
Dead baby never had a chance (Jan 31, 2004) Read a story from the Barrie Examiner regarding a
young child who died after being warned in writing by family members that the Simcoe County Children's Aid Society was not doing enough to protect the child. This is another terrible example of a child dying right
under the noses of CAS workers while CAS workers were involved in the case. It seems as if the family knew what was best for the child but were powerless because of CAS procedures which clearly failed this innocent child in
this case. CAS defied court Order to return boy! (Jan 24, 2004) Read a story from the Ottawa Citizen regarding the
Children's Aid Society of Prescott and Russell which is near Hawkesbury, Ontario. The CAS refused to return a boy to his family after the judge ordered them to do so. CAS worker Marie-Claude Belanger figured
(not so smartly) that she did not have to do what the court ordered if she did not agree with it. Children's Aid worker tells young girl: It's OK to be beaten, abused & threatened by your Mom! (April 22, 2003) Read this article about a child who reported during a videotaped interview that she told a CAS worker that she was being beaten by her mother but the CAS worker told her that this was OK. Niagara Family and Child Services (FACS) leaves (January 2004) Listen to an audio tape segment of a mother who had her children taken into care by FACS in St. Catherines, Ontario. The mother said that the the workers did nothing when she found her 3 youngest children left alone in a FACS van in the parking lot at the FACS offices with only an 11 year-old in the car to watch the youngest children. Parents would likely be reprimanded for this but not CAS workers it would seem.
